Jul 03, 2009 – 10:07AMSo i've been in vegas for 3 full days now and I figured it was about time I updated my blog. The first night I got here on Monday was pretty mellow because I had to wake up early the next morning for the 5k 6 max. Everyone I know thought it was going to be a much smaller field then last year but it ended up being even bigger with over 1 mill for first. I had some pretty tough tables in the 6 max but long story short I was doing pretty well for the first 8 levels going from 15k to 80k when avg was around 40-50k and then the last 2 levels I hit a wall and ended day 1 with 50.1k. It was kind of disappointing that day 1 ended with 160/950ish players left and 90 cash. I would've liked to have played another 2 levels/down to the money and not have to wake up early to go play my 30bb stack and possibly end up bubbling. Sure enough approximately 15 hands into day 2 I busted 4 bet shoving 88 and getting it in vs AQ. I was pretty happy with how I played the whole tournament, that was the only time I got all in and I made some really sick reads and bluffs.
Today I basically relaxed and worked off a hangover after getting back to my room at around 10 AM thanks to a long night of partying. I decided to play some live cash and jumped into a 5/10 game and was running pretty bad (down like a buyin) when I won a pot that was ~ 4k. It was a 3 way all in where we got it in on the turn on a QQ27hh board against a Qx hand and a hand I assumed was a flush draw when I had pocket deuces. I quit shortly thereafter and booked a solid win so I can get some extra sleep tonight before I play day 1a of the main. I'm pretty excited about this weekend, with the main tomorrow (or today I should say), then the 4th of July on sat (should be another long night), and then the CR party with open bar on the 5th i'm just hoping I make it out alive.
