SORRY FOR LACK OF UPDATES

Apr 28, 2009 – 23:04PM

Was planning on blogging every day to start but this is harder then I thought it'd be. I haven't had a whole lot going on lately, just been playing a lot of hands. 6 max has tested my self control a lot more then I had initially thought it would, but i'm happy to say I still haven't gone on wild monkey tilt yet despite some pretty brutal sessions.

I'd been gaining a lot of confidence in my 6 max game and becoming pretty comfortable dealing with the over aggressive nature of the games up until today. It felt like I totally hit a wall in my (first) session, every time I 3 bet bluffed I was 4 bet, every time I 4 bet bluffed I was 5 bet shoved on, and every time I had a big hand preflop they just folded. I wasn't too worried about that stuff though because a lot of that is just variance and my opponents were pretty fortunate in their timing. I was also playing pretty poorly which is what really frustrates me. It was weird that yesterday I woke up earlier then usual and felt kind of terrible all day after 5ish hours of sleep and yet played great and today I got ~9 hours of sleep and woke up feeling great and just played terrible. Anyway 2 hands I felt like I played particularly badly :

Turn: ($435.50) JJ of clubs (2 players - 1 is all in)

River: ($435.50) 99 of spades (2 players - 1 is all in)

I should have just raised on the flop vs the cbet initially and felted my hand, I feel like he's betting close to 100% of his range on this flop and I think he would just shove on me with a lot of worse flush draws and other hands that I have a ton of equity against. Once I call (which I still don't hate, just doesn't seem optimal), I think vs this guys raise I have to fold. He was a 42/2/2 so while he had really fishy stats, I just don't think I have enough equity against his range. He is probably not c/ring random J hi flush draws on this flop that I dominate, and so he either has a combo draw or a set or a 2 pair hand, and vs that range of hands I only had ~35% equity.

I called here preflop because of the villains stack size, if I 3 bet him here it looks really strong since i'm never folding to a 4 bet and his stats were ~30/25 so I didn't want him to fold almost all of his hands. Postflop after he checks back the flop I put him on a queen so I went for 2 streets of value but once he shoves the river I just made a really stupid call. My range looks pretty polarized to an ace or a missed draw of some sort so despite getting 6 to 1 odds I just don't think i'm shoved on often enough by a hand I beat to call here.

I'm about to fire up another session and cut down from 10-12 tables to 6 tables and slow things down a bit. Hopefully I can run well and feel better about my game so I can get another 2k hand session in later tonight.
